You know how I know it’s summer? Because the fireflies are finally out AND, perhaps more importantly, the strawberries in the market are plentiful and, frankly, the same size as me. Oh, and blueberries are on sale 2 for 1 (what?!).
So what did I do with the bountiful berries? It’s pretty easy to guess.
Strawberry shortcake. Hells yeah. I used Smitten Kitchen’s recipe this time around and it was very nice, particularly the berry topping which uses lemons and sugar which makes it taste like strawberry lemonade over the shortcake. Yum!
